The Stihl MSA 161 T is a lightweight, high-performance cordless top-handle chainsaw designed exclusively for certified arborists. Precision cutting, quiet operation, and enhanced motor performance – perfect for working in the canopy.
The Stihl MSA 161 T Cordless Chainsaw is a professional-grade, battery-powered top-handle chainsaw engineered for certified arborists performing precision work at height. Weighing just 2.5 kg (excluding battery), this lightweight saw delivers excellent manoeuvrability for working in the canopy or on complex aerial tasks.
Part of Stihl’s AP System, the MSA 161 T offers a 40% increase in chain speed and 15% boost in motor performance compared to its predecessor, the MSA 160 T. It features a ¼” P low-profile chain for reduced chatter and ultra-smooth, accurate cutting – ideal for fine pruning and detailed work.
Built with safety and convenience in mind, the MSA 161 T includes a side-lock trigger button, large throttle interlock lever, and integrated carrying ring for attaching the saw during aerial operations. Its low-noise battery-powered operation means it can be used in noise-sensitive areas without ear protection, and early starts won’t disturb clients or neighbours.
The saw is IPX4 rated, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions. When used with the recommended AP 200 S battery*, it offers up to 42 minutes of working time, with the best weight-to-balance ratio. For extended run times, the AP 300 S or AP 500 S batteries can also be used, though this may affect handling.
