2. Assess and Revive Your Lawn
After a dry summer, many lawns are looking brown and patchy. Don’t panic. Grass is often dormant rather than dead.
- Don’t rush to renovate drought-damaged lawns after the first rainfall. Give the grass a couple of weeks to recover naturally before deciding whether overseeding or other repairs are necessary. Many lawns will green up surprisingly well once cooler, wetter weather returns.
- Continue mowing if needed, but raise the cutting height slightly.
- Identify any areas that may need overseeding later in the month.
- Remove the dead grass (thatch) but avoid aggressive scarifying until growth has returned.

3. Plant Spring-Flowering Bulbs
September is the perfect time to start planting bulbs for colour next spring, when the soil is still warm and we have had some rainfull.

- Keeps paths safer and tidier
